Not all calculators are equal. An easy test is to calculate the sum 2 + 3 x 6. The correct answer is 20. If your calculator gives you the answer as 30 then that calculator is not suitable for school.

There are three strands in the curriculum: Number and Algebra, Geometry and Measurement and Statistics. All the work needed for 9-12 year olds is covered in the two books of the Mighty Maths for 9-12 year old series. An ideal situation would be for a child to complete 1 or 2 pages for 2 or 3 nights a week during the year.
